Now I just use the headset for looking around and the controller takes care of the rest. The one thing that I really love with this controller is that it lets me remove my hands from the headset. Though after some time had passed I started to get the hang of the buttons and overall feel of the controller, and neither spacecraft’s or networks stood a chance against me. I played Anshar Wars 2 and Darknet with the controller, and yes the controls were a little weird at first. Well I can tell you that it does in fact work with the S7’s Gear VR headset. Seeing as how this controller was built and designed around the apple OS, I fully expected this controller to either not work at all or the controls would be so strange that it wouldn’t be worth it to use.
Pros: When I received this device, the first thing I wanted to do was pair it with my android devices (S7 and Nexus tablet 2013) and see how it would perform. Don’t expect to use this for anything other than Apple devices.
Overall Review: As expected, this controller does not work natively on Windows devices. I don’t know what iOS games would support this, but it is missed anyway. Usually, controllers of this caliber would have 元/R3 (depressible) analog sticks for extra functionality. Unfortunately, the controller doesn’t come with a charging cable.Ĭons: The triggers do not function as buttons. The controller uses Micro USB to charge, so you will likely have tons of these lying around already. The sticks are nice and firm, and the buttons respond quickly and aren’t “sticky” feeling.īattery life is great and it uses Bluetooth, so there is no need for annoying dongles. This does not feel “cheap” or “poorly made”. The button layout is very similar in both look and feel to an Xbox One controller, while the analog sticks are placed in a both-down configuration like the PlayStation consoles. Pros: This controller feels and responds just like any other console controller. However, as iPhone VR headsets and games start to become more commonplace, I believe this controller will really start to shine, especially in shooters and games that don't really benefit from one handed controllers. You could obviously also use this on an iPhone, but considering that there's no mount for it, and that the controller quality far exceeds the visual experience of an iPhone sitting on a desk, it just doesn't seem like the optimum method of play.
For all intents and purposes, this might as well be a console controller, except that the "console" in this case is an Apple TV or iPad.
Overall Review: While I don't have experience with other Steelseries bluetooth controllers, I have had the opportunity to use a few of the more generic brand bluetooth controllers over the years, and this one blows every one of them out of the water in every respect. Admittedly, this thing will spend so little time on a charger that it can easily share time with a normal phone charger and not be an issue, but you'd still expect one considering the price point. That could easily cover a week or two of serious play time without a single recharge.Ĭons: - As many people have (rightly) stated, this does not come with a charging cable. I haven't actually hit a point yet where I even needed to charge it (I've got about 5 hours into it), but the expected life is 40 hours, which is an incredible amount of time. Bluetooth connection pairs quickly and easily, which is not always the case with Bluetooth products in general It's at least as good as anything you would expect from a current gen console. Pros: - The feel and comfort of this controller (especially considering that this is a more "casual" gaming controller) is top notch.
